Man, can you wrap your head around the fact that Sonic Hedgehog 3 won’t grace our screens for another seven months? That’s right, folks! The speedy blue hedgehog along with his brooding counterpart Shadow are making a grand return on December 20 for their third live-action movie installment.
Fans worldwide are practically gnawing at their nails in anticipation, eagerly anticipating the first peek at this upcoming cinematic adventure. A select few lucky individuals caught a secret glimpse at a hush-hush event back in April, leaving the rest of us hanging by a thread, desperate for any crumbs of info to tide us over.
I mean, are we all starting to go a little loopy here waiting around for this trailer drop? It feels like we’re collectively losing our marbles, similar to the chaotic antics of Dr. Gerald Robotnik in Sonic Adventure 2!
Like many others, I had my bets on Paramount dropping the Sonic 3 trailer today, May 16, possibly alongside their new (apparently not great) movie If, now playing in theaters. I went the extra mile by turning on notifications for the official Sonic movie account on X (formerly Twitter) so that I wouldn’t miss a thing. As hours passed with no sign of the trailer, my hopes started to fade. Then, a notification popped up from the account. Excited, only to be let down when it turned out to be a mere retweet of Paramount+ dissecting Easter eggs from the Knuckles show on their platform.
Fans flooded the post, all pleading for the Sonic 3 trailer, sharing in my disappointment. Paramount seems to be well aware of our eagerness, as they teased us with a clip from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on their YouTube channel on May 10, much to the frustration of fans eagerly waiting for the third installment. The back and forth banter between fans and Paramount online only fueled the excitement. It’s like they’re playing a game with us!
There’s speculation floating around that the trailer might not make it in time for If’s premiere, leaving fans hanging on for any clues or hints. Personally, I just want to see Shadow in action. I sat through the Knuckles show, expecting more, but alas, it barely scratched the surface. Paramount, do us a solid and give us a taste of what’s to come. Shadow deserves his moment in the sun, don’t you think?
